16 March 2017: Hong Kong Chapter Event

The Hong Kong Chapter held a cocktail reception on 16 March 2017.

Mr Timothy Lear, Director (Operations), Competition Commission of Hong Kong, was the speaker at the reception. The title of his speech was “How might Australian Competition Law influence the development of the Hong Kong Competition Ordinance”.

Prior to joining the Competition Commission of Hong Kong, Mr Lear was the Director of International Affairs of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (“ACCC”), where he represented the ACCC to promote the implementation of competition regulations in the East Asian region.

Mr Lear shared his vast experiences in competition law and gave us an insight into the Hong Kong competition law including how the Australian cases are relevant in the Hong Kong context.

Attendees also had an opportunity to meet the recently appointed Deputy Consul-General of Australia, Mr. Ken Gordon, whom we were privileged to have him supporting the reception.
