Former Law Council president Morry Bailes AM recognised in Queen's Birthday honours
11 June 2020
The Law Council of Australia warmly congratulates former president Morry Bailes on being recognised as a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2020 Queen's Birthday Honours.
Law Council of Australia President, Pauline Wright, said the Adelaide-based lawyer was well deserving of the honour which recognised his services to the law, professional legal societies and to the community.
"Mr Bailes has had a brilliant career in the law, and has the respect of his professional peers, community and government,” Ms Wright said.
"During his 2018 tenure leading the Law Council, Mr Bailes was tireless in his duties, particularly in promoting equal access to justice for all Australians.
"He oversaw the launch of the Law Council's powerful Justice Project Final Report, which highlighted the barriers Australia's most disadvantaged people face in accessing justice. The findings of the Justice Project continue to shape legal policy and advocacy.
"We trust he will continue to make a positive contribution to the law and broader Australian community," Ms Wright said.
