Law Council congratulates new FCFCOA appointments
5 April 2022
The Law Council of Australia commends Attorney-General Michaelia Cash’s announcement yesterday afternoon of five new judicial appointments to the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) (Division 2).
“Each of the appointments announced by the Attorney-General bring expertise, skill and experience to the Sydney and Melbourne Registries which will serve our community well,” Law Council of Australia President, Mr Tass Liveris said.
“On behalf of the Law Council, I would like to extend our congratulations to Natasha Laing, Amanda Mansini, Alison Burt, Paul Glass and Gillian Eldershaw.
“In particular, I would like to observe the elevation of Ms Alison Burt. Alison has made an outstanding contribution to our profession throughout her career, most recently as the Victorian Bar Representative on the Executive of the Law Council’s Family Law Section. We will miss her in this role, but her appointment is highly deserved.
“I also note that with these appointments, 51 per cent of current sitting judges in the FCFCOA (Division 2) are female and this is the first time a federal court has recorded 51 per cent current sitting female judges.”
