Law Council congratulates Tass Liveris on appointment to FCFCOA

The Law Council of Australia welcomes the appointment of its former President, Mr Tass Liveris as a Judge of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia (FCFCOA) (Division 2).
“Mr Liveris has committed his career to advocating on behalf of our profession and our community,” Law Council of Australia President, Mr Greg McIntyre SC said.
“With this appointment I am confident he will continue to serve the people of Australia, and the Northern Territory, with empathy and enthusiasm.”
Mr Liveris was President of the Law Council of Australia in 2022. His appointment to the Darwin Registry of the FCFCOA was announced today by Attorney-General, The Hon Mark Dreyfus KC MP.
“Announcing Mr Liveris’s appointment, the Attorney-General noted the Australian Government’s commitment to merit in appointing judicial officers,” Mr McIntyre said.
“We welcome and support merit appointments and I personally believe Mr Liveris is an outstanding appointment.
“Having served with Mr Liveris on the Law Council Executive, I can attest to the fact he is a passionate, fair and dedicated advocate.
“In this new role, he will serve with distinction and take seriously his responsibility to administer justice for all who come before him.
“On behalf of the national legal profession, I am honoured to congratulate Mr Liveris on his appointment.”
