The Law Council of Australia joins with the broader legal profession and community in mourning the passing of Robert Meadows KC.
“Mr Meadows was a generous, valued and committed supporter of the Australian legal profession, including serving as President of the Law Council of Australia in 1992,” Law Council of Australia President, Mr Tass Liveris said.
“From 1986-87, Mr Meadows was President of the Law Society of Western Australia and was appointed a Life Member in recognition of the contribution he made to the Law Society over many years.
“Admitted to legal practice in 1966, Mr Meadows was appointed Solicitor General of Western Australia in 1995, a post he held for over 15 years.
“He was also a Vice-President of the Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association, which is dedicated to maintaining and promoting the rule of law throughout the Commonwealth by ensuring that an independent and efficient legal profession serves the people of the Commonwealth.
“On behalf of the Law Council of Australia, I extend our deepest sympathy to Mr Meadows’ loved ones. Mr Meadows was an outstanding and unwavering advocate and will be missed.”
