2017 IBA LCA Networking Reception

The Law Council of Australia held a reception on Thursday night, 12 October 2017, as part of the IBA Conference. The evening was well attended with guests enjoying spectacular views across Sydney Harbour from the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House.
Law Council President, Fiona McLeod SC, spoke of the importance of the rule of law and provided an update on the Justice Project, which seeks to improve access to justice outcomes for 13 groups experiencing significant social and economic disadvantage in Australia.
The Law Council was pleased to have in attendance 2017 IBA President Martin Šolc, judges Judith Gibson and John North and Shadow Attorney-General Shadow Minister for National Security Mark Dreyfus QC MP among International Bar Association presidents and legal professionals.
A highlight for international guests was the opportunity to encounter Australian wildlife with a Koala and Pademelon joining the party from Featherdale Wildlife Park. Australia’s First Families of Wine provided guests an opportunity to sample a range of Australian wine.
