Multi-factor authentication is coming to ImmiAccount on 18 June 2025

This information was circulated to the profession between 9–15 June but has subsequently been put online at the request of Law Council constituent bodies.
The Department of Home Affairs will be introducing compulsory use of multi-factor authentication (MFA) for ImmiAccount on 18 June 2025.
Getting ready is simple, but you must do it now:
- you will need to install an authenticator app on your mobile device
- you will be prompted to verify your email address if you haven’t logged in to your ImmiAccount in the last 6 months
- stop sharing ImmiAccount user credentials and set up your own ImmiAccount.
MFA adds an extra layer of security to ImmiAccount, helping to protect users’ personal and sensitive information from unauthorised access.
