President’s bilateral meetings with the Law Society of Singapore and the Malaysian Bar
25 February 2022
Following on from the formal meetings to mark the Opening of the Legal Year in Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong, the Law Council initiated bilateral meetings with the Law Society of Singapore and the Malaysian Bar. This meeting provided an opportunity to promote the Law Council’s areas of focus for the upcoming year, receive an update from counterpart Presidents on their priorities and legal issues of significance in their jurisdictions, and to identify possible areas of collaboration.
On 16 February, the President and the International Division met with Adrian Tan Gim Hai, President of the Law Society of Singapore, and members of the Law Society’s international team, Shawn Toh, Lee Wei Yan, Karyna Lam and Daren Oon. This was followed by a meeting on 18 February with A.G. Kalidas, President of the Malaysian Bar, Shahareen Begum (Secretary), and Sunil Lopez (Deputy Chief Executive Officer).
These meetings begin a series of bilateral meetings to be held in the first months of 2022 to establish relationships between the President and key international counterparts.
