Presidents of Law Associations of Asia Summit 2025

Law Council President Juliana Warner attended the Presidents of Law Associations in Asia (POLA) Summit in New Delhi, India from 25-28 August 2025. The Summit brought together 50 delegates representing 20 jurisdictions in Asia, and observers from the International Bar Association, LAWASIA and the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA).

During the Summit, President Warner represented the Law Council at the Presidents’ Meeting and discussed topics including criminal retrials and criminal justice system reform and introduced a discussion on the regulation of foreign lawyers. The President also participated in a panel discussion on ‘Courtrooms without walls: AI, social media and the rule of law’.

The POLA Bar Leaders also met with the Chief Justice Bhushan Ramkrishna Gavai, Justice Surya Kant and Justice Vikram Nath of the Supreme Court of India.

In the margins of the Summit, the President met with the Deputy High Commissioner at the Australian High Commission and held bilateral meetings with the Bar Association of India, Law Society of Singapore, Malaysian Bar, New Zealand Law Society, Taiwan Bar Association, Japan Federation of Bar Associations, PERADI (Indonesian Advocates Association) and the Paris Bar.
