Legal and Related Services Export Surveys

The Legal and Related Services Export Survey is the only highly-accurate, publicly-available survey of the value of Australia’s export markets for legal services.

Legal services is a significant component in the export of professional and technical services from Australia and is the second highest export in this category after engineering services. In terms of the balance of trade, the surplus on legal services exports is the highest of all categories of professional and technical services.

Information about Australia’s trade in legal and related services and the level of international activity in legal services are important tools for providers of legal and related services to develop business plans, identify new opportunities and develop strategies for targeting markets.

The Survey assists the Law Council of Australia and Government to develop initiatives, policies and programs to promote the export of legal and related services.

Surveys

The International Legal Services Advisory Council (ILSAC) carried out the first three Legal and Related Services Export surveys between 2004 and 2009. The fourth survey was conducted by the Law Council of Australia.
