Inquiry into National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Safeguarding the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026

The Law Council of Australia provided a submission to the Senate Legislation Committee on Community Affairs (the Committee) to comment on the National Disability Insurance Scheme Amendment (Safeguarding the NDIS for Future Generations) Bill 2026 (the Bill).
This submission is informed by input from the Queensland Law Society and the Law Institute of Victoria. In the time available, the views in this submission regarding the Bill’s proposed measures should be taken as preliminary only.
The Law Council also draws the Committee’s attention to the concerns of the community legal assistance sector about the Bill, as expressed in a joint statement on 2 June 2026, which the Law Council has endorsed.1
