Inquiry into the Treasury Laws Amendment (Financial Market Infrastructure and Other Measures) Bill 2024
The Law Council of Australia provided a submission to the Senate Economics Legislation Committee regarding the Climate Related Financial Disclosures (CRFD) regime in Schedule 4 to the Treasury Laws Amendment (Financial Market Infrastructure and Other Measures) Bill 2024 (the Bill).
The Law Council welcomes the Bill and its role in providing transparency to investors for climate-related risks and opportunities in companies.1 As noted in the Law Council’s Climate Change Policy, it is important that developments in this area promote certainty and clarity in the law.2
However, there are some issues with the transitional arrangements and scope of the Bill that require further attention.
