Template CLG Constitutions Consultation

Submission Date: 23 May 2025

This submission has been prepared by the Charities and Not-for-profits Committee of the Law Council of Australia’s Legal Practice Section. The Committee welcomes the opportunity to make a submission to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission in relation to the proposed template constitutions for companies limited by guarantee.

In our respectful view the draft documents are not fit for purpose and will create more confusion for charities than the previous document. They require extensive revision.

The Committee has provided detailed comments in the annexed constitution for a Standard template CLG constitution.
