Using technology to hold meetings and sign and send documents
The submission to the Treasury in response to the exposure draft legislation, the Treasury Laws Amendment (Measures for Consultation) Bill 2021: Use of technology for meetings and related amendments (Exposure Draft) was prepared by the Law Council of Australia.
The Exposure Draft proposes amendments to the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) to make permanent the temporary measures put in place during the COVID-19 pandemic relating to electronic execution of company documents and meeting notifications.1 Similar changes are proposed in Schedule 1 of the Treasury Law Amendment (2021 Measures No. 1) Bill 2021 (Cth) (TLAB). As at the date of this submission, the TLAB has not been passed by the Australian Parliament.2
