Personal Injuries and Compensation
The Personal Injuries and Compensation Group of the Legal Practice Section of the Law Council of Australia provides a forum for lawyers who work in the personal injuries litigation field, to discuss issues and develop their professional skills at a national level.
Role & Objectives
The primary objectives of the Personal Injuries and Compensation Group are:
- to raise the standard of personal injuries litigation throughout Australia
- to provide lawyers with any degree of interest in the field of personal injuries, with the opportunity to develop their litigation skills
- to provide lawyers with a forum through which they can expand their professional and personal contacts in the personal injuries litigation field
The Group is committed to keeping personal injuries lawyers informed of developments in their field, encouraging them to develop and enhance their litigation skills and assisting them to build professional and personal networks.
The Group prepares comment and submission on behalf of the Law Council of Australia in relation legislation and policy matters in the area of personal injuries. The Group has been particularly active in working with the Law Council in its work with the Law Council of Australia on tort law reform.
Benefits of Membership
As a member of the Legal Practice Section, all Group members receive the Section's quarterly journal, the Australian Law Management Journal, and receive discounted registration to conferences seminars conducted by the Section.
Members of the Section have access to the members' section of the Law Council's website, including access to electronic newsletters, journals, and case flashes.
Members of the Section have access to a range of discounts and corporate plan agreements for domestic and international air travel and accommodation, and hire cars.
