Electricity price monitoring and response draft legislation
The submission to the Treasury in relation to its Treasury Law Amendment (Prohibiting Energy Market Misconduct) Bill 2019 was prepared by the Competition and Consumer Committee of the Business Law Section.
The Committee holds concerns about the Bill in its current form and details these issues in the submission. The Committee does not believe that the Bill in its current form is the best method of achieving the policy outcomes it is intending to achieve and may indeed have unintended undesirable consequences.
