2025 Privacy Workshop

The Privacy Law Committee hosted its annual seminar on 22 September 2025 at Macquarie Bank in Sydney.
The program opened with an address by Privacy Commissioner Carly Kind, providing key insights into the current regulatory landscape. Professor Barbara McDonald examined the scope of the new statutory tort for serious invasions of privacy, while Thomas Blackburn SC addressed litigation for breaches of confidentiality and privacy, and related causes of action. Each session offered practical knowledge and expert analysis to support practitioners navigating this evolving field.
The seminar concluded with a networking function, giving attendees the opportunity to connect with peers.
