Class Actions Committee
The primary purpose of the Class Actions Committee is to focus on issues of practice and procedure in class actions litigation. The Committee aims for better consistency in class action statutory provisions across Australia’s jurisdictions. The Committee also actively engages in the Law Council’s policy work on contingency fees and litigation funding. Its objectives are:
- to identify procedural issues and other aspects of the conduct of class actions so as to inform the Law Council of issues for the benefit of the profession;
- to provide a think tank for areas of reform; and
- to offer professional development educational opportunities for the profession such as seminars, and to publish articles.
The Class Actions Committee was established in 2011.
