Our Committees
The Federal Dispute Resolution Section (FDRS) provides leadership on critical Federal law and policy issues for the Australian legal profession by:
- Liaising with Federal courts and tribunals to drive informed law reform initiatives;
- Facilitating professional development educational opportunities for the profession via creating informative publications and hosting CPD events such as seminars or conferences;
- Advising the Law Council on areas for reform in both legal or procedural matters and supporting in policy development;
- Serving as a foundational body for the Law Council’s communication and lobbying efforts; and
- Building professional networks among legal practitioners and academics across Australia.
The various committees that constitute the FDRS serve as forums that allow lawyers, judges, and academics to discuss and address specific legal issues with the goal of contributing to the process of law reform in Australia, while also enhancing their professional skills. The FDRS has 13 committees, each specialising in different aspects of federal litigation and dispute resolution. To learn more about the work of each committee please click on the links below.
