Federal Dispute Resolution Section

Commonwealth Compensation and Employment Law Committee

The primary purpose of the Commonwealth Compensation and Employment Law Committee is to be an expert resource for the Federal Litigation and Resolution Section and the Law Council on matters of law and practice arising in and incidental to the areas of Commonwealth workers compensation and employment law, including the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (Cth), occupational health and safety legislation, human rights and equal opportunity legislation, the Public Service Act 1999 (Cth) and other statutory employment schemes, the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Freedom of Information Act 1982 (Cth).

In recent years the Committee has had a greater focus on matters arising under the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (Cth) due to the broad range of issues that arise under that scheme, which necessarily include employment law issues.

The Committee hosts a popular CPD and networking event – Hot Topics in Commonwealth Compensation – twice a year, usually in May in Melbourne and in November or early December in Sydney.
