Bannerman Competition Lecture 2021
On 9 February 2021, the Australian Competition & Consumer Commission (ACCC) in conjunction with the Business Law Section (BLS) hosted the annual Bannerman Competition Lecture in honour of the contribution to competition law and regulation by the late Ron Bannerman AO.
The lecture this year was delivered by Dr Andrea Coscelli, Chief Executive of the Competition and Markets Authority, who shared his thoughts on how competition enforcers can stay ahead of the curve in modern and increasingly digital markets while balancing consumer welfare aims with the need to reduce restrictions and any risks from overenforcement.
The annual Bannerman Competition Lecture has become one of the most important events on the competition law calendar in Australia. Due to the ongoing pandemic, this year’s lecture was held virtually for the first time, allowing the event to reach a wide audience both domestic and internationally. A recording of this year’s event is available below.
The BLS gives its thanks to Dr Coscelli and the ACCC for a very successful event.
